Yellow Bus Pilot – Basingstoke 

Hampshire County Council is trialling a Yellow (school) Bus scheme in Basingstoke. The aim of this scheme is to evaluate the Yellow Bus concept and assess its role in reducing school gate congestion and reducing pollution. Opportunities for additional runs for After School Activities have been provided in addition to the journeys between home and school.

The Pilot involves five schools, one Secondary and four Primary. The Secondary school is Aldworth Science College and the Primary schools are its feeder schools Kempshott Infant and Junior and Park View Infant and Junior.


Features of the scheme are :-

• Three Yellow Buses seating up to 60 children
• Seat belts at all seats
• Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)
• Flat fare of 50p per single journey

 

The Pilot commenced in February 2007 and continues to the summer of 2010.
